Hopefully for many of you, you’re now well and truly back into the gym training routine.
There might be queues, there might be more hygiene routines than you knew were possible at the gym BUT crucially, you’re back!
Here are our Lky7 top tips for sticking at and maximising your training!
1️⃣ Warm up & Cool down for 10 minutes before and after your session. A good stretch or short, low intensity start to your cardio routine will give your muscles an opportunity to ‘fire up’ before you hit them hard.
2️⃣ Focus on form, not weight! We’ve covered this before but leave your ego at the door, now more than ever! Too much weight is a recipe for a disaster, and an embarrassing moment in the gym!
3️⃣ Stick with your routine! Now more than ever, sticking to your regular training routine is not only going to help you see better and faster results but it’s also going to give you every opportunity of continuing your routine long after the buzz of being back at the gym has worn off!
4️⃣ Slow down! Muscles are worked when they’re under tension so slow your movements down and control the weight. Slow 3 - 4 second concentric and explosive 1 - 2 second eccentric!
5️⃣ Control your breathing! For some of us, cardio might feel a bit harder than it has before so now is a great time to focus on your breathing making sure you’re steady and controlled with it.
6️⃣ Get your nutrition right. Remember, hard work pays off dividends when it’s paired with a healthy, balanced diet. Don’t undo all the hardworking in the gym by over indulging!
7️⃣ Don’t be afraid of rest days! Your muscles grow when they rest, not when they’re worked! When we work our muscles we put tiny tears in them which, with the right diet and rest will grow back stronger. So don’t be afraid of your rest day, embrace it and have a good stretch!
