Discipline: fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
Discipline: If you refer to an activity or situation as a discipline, you mean that, in order to be successful in it, you need to behave in a strictly controlled way and obey particular rules or standards.
Now, we’re not sure about you but as much as we’re up and at ‘em by 0530 every morning, we certainly don’t spring out of bed each day raring to go. Sometimes we slowly roll out of the side of bed in search of the pre-workout we left out the night before. But one thing we do which transforms our productivity, particularly in the morning is prepare in advance and have some ‘discipline.’
Having a little bit of discipline, particularly about the tasks that aren’t so easy is the quickest and easiest way to keep you on track to completing them. Here are just a few things you can do to increase your productivity.
📝 Program your workout the night before. Which movements are you going to perform? How many reps or sets? What equipment will you need? Now this doesn’t have to be on a large whiteboard like a CrossFit gym, just use a notepad or the notes app on your phone. Ticking off your reps and sets during your workout is also a great boost for your confidence.
📝 If you have the ability to, lay your equipment where you’ll be using it or, if you train in the garden, leave it by the back door to save yourself some time.
📝 Get your supplements pre-made. Get your tubs, gels, bars, powders etc. laid out to save you time.
📝 Lay the clothes out you’ll need. Now this sounds bizarre as grabbing your training clothes first thing in the morning sounds easy but if you prepare them in advance, again, it’s one less thing to worry about when you’re up.
The bottom line is, the more you are prepared to attack your day the more productive you will be and the more likely you will be to complete the goals and training session you’ve set yourself.
