By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail...
By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
This is also true when it comes to our training! How many times have you had every good intention of carrying out a huge workout in the morning only to wake up feeling a bit ‘meh’ and then either skip the session completely or simply do a half hearted, watered down version of it?
We are definitely guilty of this and one thing that has helped massively is being more prepared.
Here are our tips for giving yourself every chance of staying on track with your training:
💪 program your workout on a pad or whiteboard the night before. This is something Crossfit boxes and athletes have done for years but its benefits are often overlooked for general training. Taking time out to program your workout not only means you’re planning your workout in advance and giving more thought to which exercises and movements you’re going to do but also gives you a clear, concise goal during your workout as you tick each set off.
💪 lay out your kit the night before. If you’re going for a run, ride or working out, get your kit laid out somewhere convenient to save yourself time.
💪 prepare your nutrition. Again, if you’re going to the gym (when they eventually reopen 😩) get your pre-workout, intra-workout and protein together so it’s ready to grab and go. If you’re running or riding, get your gels, bars and powders sorted, again, saving you time and focus so you can throw them in your jersey and hit the road.
